John Greig joined Rangers in 1960 and played in three treble-winning sides. He captained them to a famous 3-2 European Cup Winners’ Cup victory over Dynamo Moscow in 1972. During a hugely successful career, in which Greig was twice voted ‘Scottish Player of the Year’, he played a total of 753 times for the Glasgow club. Throughout this time Greig amassed five League Championship wins, six Scottish Cup wins and four League Cup wins. After retiring in 1978, he was then appointed as the club’s manager.
