Willie Carson was one of Britain’s most successful and determined jockeys. In 1972, he became the first Scotsman to become a Champion Jockey. This was the first of five flat racing championship victories for him. Carson rode 3,828 winners in the UK, including 17 Classic victories. He also rode over 100 Group One winners. He retired in 1997 and now works as a television commentator and a Racing Manager for the Thoroughbred Corporation.
